Despite the fact that the Patriots beat my Seahawks in this past Super Bowl I really do like New England, but we won’t get into that… For the most part people from this Northeastern part of the country are friendly, outgoing and educated. Having just come from the very scenic and less populated states of Vermont and New Hampshire we made our way towards the coast and highly populated areas surrounding Boston. After a quick succession of shows we were then extremely excited to have a few days off to venture further North into Maine. Time flies when you live a lifestyle where you are constantly on the move from one adventure to the next. For this reason it seems unbelievable to me that it has been five years since we called Acadia National Park and the state of Maine home. Almost every place we have chosen to live and explore in the past ten years of traveling holds a special place in our hearts. But our summer living on Mount Desert Island and working, hiking and kayaking in Acadia stands out even among these remarkable places.
Despite the fact that Jen and David had a business pitch the following morning they were wonderful hosts and spoiled us rotten with steamed live lobsters!!! When your in Maine… do as the Romans do!

From Kittery we traveled further North to visit with friends in Portland. If nothing else, I can say that the weather this summer has been consistent. High wind advisory and 100% chance of rain discouraged us from continuing on to Acadia the following day. Even without the horrible weather we had debated whether or not we should visit the park. It would have been a very rushed trip only to head back south for our upcoming shows in the New York area. Next year we’ll just have to allow for more time in this beautiful part of the country. Oh and also put in a request for better weather.

On Friday morning we broke camp and set out heading North. Starting South of Boston our destination tonight is the home of Good To-Go, the makers of some of the best dehydrated camping food on the market. We first make the mistake of getting a late start and then secondly by stopping at Costco for some free samples and lunch. Being that it is Friday everyone and their mom is on the road heading North to “Vacationland” for the weekend. What was suppose to be a three hour drive turned into a stop and go six hour marathon.

After a long unplanned day in the car we eventually cross the border from New Hampshire into Maine and the small town of Kittery. We pull up to a bright yellow cape house that has been converted into the headquarters and manufacturing center of Good To-Go gourmet dehydrated meals. The founders of the company Jen and David give us a tour of the small operations and express their excitement, love, passion and drive for this relatively new company that has taken over their lives. It’s hard to imagine two people that are more determined to see their dreams of creating a company succeed. And I have no doubt that it will certainly succeed.

Binge drifting is a way of life for us. Since we met in 2008, we have worked seasonally in 10 different states, driven across this amazing country of ours countless times, hiked from Mexico to Canada, bicycled from coast to coast, and traveled the world. We hope you enjoy these tales of our journey chasing adventure!
